New London Cafe

This lovely café is very close to Highbury and Islington station but walking the opposite way you might normally go, down St Paul’s Road towards Dalston. With a corner spot, the owners of New London Cafe have made the most of its location with seats in the sunny window as well as a small terrace at the back. The coffee served is Fair Trade Organic which is fine and a wide selection of sandwiches, paninis and cakes is offered, along with some pastries. I tried the spinach and cheese slice which was very tasty. A warm welcome awaits you and the small cafe manages to squeeze a few tables in without the squashed in feeling you sometimes get. I expect there are more plans for the tiny courtyard at the back but at the moment...

Maison d’Etre

  Right on Highbury Corner facing the roundabout on the corner with St Paul’s Road, Maison d’Etre  is another little corner of France serving a delicious range of bite-sized patisserie. Who could resist? Nude Espresso is the coffee on offer and this is very good. I particularly like the range of salads available, together with panini, delicious home-made soup and sour dough sandwiches.
