Why I’m supporting Crisis at Christmas

Nov 26, 2012 by

This year I’m been volunteering with the No Second Night Out homeless project in Islington. I’ve learnt so much about myself and other people and it’s helped me to be thankful for the good things in my life.

One thing I do know, it’s better having a roof over your head than being on the street and at No Second Night Out everyone’s working really hard to make sure things keep moving and make sure new rough sleepers don’t spend a second night on the streets. There are  people coming to London every day to find work or to get away from something bad in addition to those who are already there. People who had somewhere to stay are finding themselves out on the streets possibly through something they’ve said or done or possibly not.

This Christmas I’m going to be joining my daughter with helping out at the Crisis at Christmas centre at Stratford. It’s a horrible time of year to be apart from friends and family and I want to be part of making this year a bit special for those people in London who literally don’t have anywhere to go.

Loads of people are giving time, skills and food but the centres still cost a lot of money to run and this is where you come in. If you’d like to sponsor me, I’ve set up a Virgin Money Giving  page for donations.

Merry Christmas!
