This year I’m been volunteering with the No Second Night Out homeless project in Islington. I’ve learnt so much about myself and other people and it’s helped me to be thankful for the good things in my life. One thing I do know, it’s better having a roof over your head than being on the street and at No Second Night Out everyone’s working really hard to make sure things keep moving and make sure new rough sleepers don’t spend a second night on the streets. There are ┬ápeople coming to London every day to find work or to get away from something bad in addition to those who are already there. Rial Cafe

I first discovered Rial Cafe when starting a walk from West Ham station about a year ago and, exploring the area some more, keep coming back. Right opposite the station, it’s not hard to spot, and it’s worth breaking your journey here just to pop in. Tables outside for a sunny day and quite a few seats indoors, they serve a good coffee (will check the blend next time I’m there!) and a whole range of snacks and cakes.   The one thing you really can’t miss is the warm welcome you get when you walk through the door. Every regular seems to be a friend and you want to come back to be part of that. Customers are a lovely mix of old and young, different cultures and nationalities and that’s what draws...
