Bridewell Theatre

‘David Copperfield’ is the third play I have seen at the Bridewell Theatre and the best yet.  If you haven’t yet made it to this lovely small theatre check out their programme now. Tucked away down a little lane off Fleet Street and near the beautiful St Brides Church, the Theatre runs a varied programme in the evenings and also hosts the brilliant Lunchbox Theatre. If I worked nearby I would definitely go to all of these plays which last 45 minutes and you are encouraged to bring your packed lunch! Such a refreshing break in the middle of the day and guaranteed to increase productivity in the afternoon! ‘David Copperfield‘ is one of my favourite Charles Dickens novels. Being well organised I found myself with an hour to wait in Bristol City Centre for my Megabus back to London. There are lots of places to eat and drink in the Centre but I was looking for somewhere a bit special with wifi where I could just get a decent coffee and relax. I didn’t have time to explore far. And it was a Sunday. I wandered about a bit and then my eagle eyes spotted Lashings, an independent coffee house on Broad Quay facing the hustle and bustle of the Centre. It was a perfect place to catch up on emails etc and watch the world go by, knowing it would only take me five minutes to get back to the Colston Hall to catch my coach. Ray Stitch

You might have spotted the colourful deckchairs outside Ray Stitch in Essex Road but did you know it’s a great place for a good coffee. A coffee machine is an excellent addition to independent shops and I am very pleased at how many businesses are investing in one. Opposite the New Rose, halfway down Essex Road, I spotted Ray Stitch from the bus and decided it needed checking out. I wasn’t disappointed, finding delicious cakes and biscuits and Climpsons coffee. A relaxing mix of jazz, country etc plays while you have some time to yourself. You can sit in the window, watching the world go by or outside on a nice day where the team have made good use of the exceptionally wide pavement at this point. There is even a garden at the back....
